ABOUT

Headshot of Callie Nettles, a mental health therapist, smiling against a dark blue circular background.

Callie Nettles, LMHC

I have over 10 years of experience working with clients with a wide variety of concerns. My specialties include post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and supporting clients through life transitions including relationship difficulties, grief and loss, and academic and career related concerns. I am passionate about working with older teenagers, students, young professionals and adults.

I approach each client as an individual with the strengths and potential to create the change they want to see in their own life. I believe that one size does not fit all, and I tailor my therapeutic interventions for each client and their unique needs. I work to stay attuned to the diversity of each of my clients, and strive to consistently create a safe therapeutic environment by maintaining a nonjudgmental and non-coercive attitude during our sessions. I also provide LGBTQAI+ affirmative therapy services and work to be an ally for all of my clients. I recognize all types of diversity including and not limited to size, ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, class, citizenship status, religion and abilities. I endeavor to empower my clients in developing resiliency to overcome adversity and life’s challenges. I hope to be an ongoing support for my clients, and to walk with them on their journeys to becoming the best version of themselves.

I have advanced and specialized training in Psychodrama, an action-based, experiential form of therapy. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an eye movement therapy used to relieve difficulties associated with issues such as trauma, depression, grief and anxiety. I am also a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns seeking clinical supervision for licensure.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Florida State University. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counselor Education, with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida, and have been working in Tampa, Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2014.

I do offer Sliding Scale options, please contact me directly for more information on my sliding scale rates and policies.

I do not accept insurance at this time. Private pay ensures your confidentiality, as insurance companies require therapists to submit your confidential and private information. Additionally, insurance companies may try to dictate the length and type of treatment, which I strongly believe is a decision best made between the two of us to ensure you have the best care.

While I do not accept insurance, I am considered an “Out of Network” provider. I am happy to provide documentation for out of network benefits. Please let me know if you have questions about this process, or contact your insurance provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure to cancel at least 24 hours before your appointment to avoid incurring a cancellation fee. This allows me to offer that time to another client.

“How do I get started with therapy?”

Now that you are ready to get started with the therapy process, it’s time to reach out for a complimentary phone consultation. At our consultation I will answer any questions you may have, briefly discuss the concerns that are bringing you to therapy, and determine that I’m the right provider for you. To request your complimentary phone consultation, click here. You can also give me a call at 813-644-9659.

“What will happen at the first appointment?”

It’s normal to feel a little nervous at your first appointment. At our first therapy appointment, scheduled for 50 minutes, we will review confidentiality and answer any questions you may have about the therapy process. I will collect a thorough personal history, but will not push you to talk about anything you’re not ready to discuss. We’ll get to know each other, and we will discuss what you would like to work on in therapy.

“How long will I be in therapy?”

Therapy is an individualized and unique process, and I work to ensure that therapy services are tailored for you and your specific goals. The number of sessions needed can vary significantly while we work to address your concerns and get you feeling better. We will work together to create a treatment plan that will meet your needs and provide you with the best support possible.

“Do you provide Telehealth, Virtual or Phone therapy options?”

Absolutely! Using a secure, HIPAA compliant phone and video therapy platform, I am able to provide effective mental health services electronically to ensure that therapy is a process that is flexible and easily accessible to you and your family members.

Please feel free to contact me for any additional questions you may have. I look forward to hearing from you!
